PROFILE SUBJECT: Fine Art Photo in Lemoyne, Pennsylvania

APPLICATION: Providing digital photo systems to a photo retailer

SOLUTION: Products that expand services and profits

Fine Art Photo owner Gary Knaub operates a professional photography service and retail store to provide a wide range of photographic solutions in the Central Pennsylvania area of Lemoyne. In the store, the Mitsubishi DPS Kiosk 7000, attached to the Mitsubishi printers, provides his digital camera customers with quick, easy to use digital imaging for high quality printing or burning to a disc. The photo editing, high-speed operation and intuitive control of the system makes it nearly a hands free revenue center for the retail portion of his business.

On the professional services side, Knaub uses the digital printers for a number of tasks, and recently took the Mitsubishi printer on location for a job that he probably would not have gotten without that capability. Fine Art Photo was hired by a local union that was conducting a training seminar. The union wished to provide its members a thank you gift for attending the seminar and thought they might use a Polaroid to provide a photographic memento of the event. Instead, Knaub got the job because he was the only local photographer who could provide them with on site, high quality, instantly available digital prints in 4 x 6.

“Being able to take a high quality Mitsubishi digital printer on location and print great images immediately adds a revenue stream for us,” said Knaub. “With these trouble-free printers we have been able to add to our portfolio of offerings and expand our business. Plus, they’ve been far superior to previous units we’ve had.”

The combination of the digital photofinishing capabilities of the DPS Kiosk 7000 in conjunction with printers in the retail store and the added opportunities provided by the CP-9500DW and CP-9550DW printers has allowed Fine Art Photo to expand its offerings and increase its profits while offering the highest quality with trouble free operation.

Commenting on Fine Art Photography’s use of its printers and print management systems, Darla Achey, product marketing specialist, Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America Imaging Products noted, “We build the tools that finish our customers’ art. As such, our quality directly affects our customers’ quality; our reliability has an immediate impact on our customers’ reliability and our ease of use helps determine the user’s in-store experience. These are all the areas we work to refine and improve and it’s therefore very gratifying to see a professional like Gary Knaub take full advantage of our tools!”
