PROFILE SUBJECT: Neel Photography in West Virginia
APPLICATION: CP-9800DW Road Test
Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America’ professional-grade digital printers are essential in the toolset of busy professional photographers. Just ask Susie and Chuck Neel of Neel’s Photography of West Virginia, who needed an ultra-reliable, high-performing print solution that is easy to use and fosters creativity.
Chuck Neel provides the following first-hand insight of his experience with the Mitsubishi CP-9800DW.
“The Mitsubishi CP-9800DW Photo Printer provided a user-friendly setup. We opened the box and the first print came out in less than 30 minutes. The 9800DW came with all the software needed and easy to follow instructions. We loved the convenience of the front access for loading the media and ink sheet. The roll type mechanism makes it virtually jam free and easy to switch between media sizes.
The 9800DW is tough and durable. The metal case adds to the well-built construction and its cube-like design makes it a real space saver. Although it is not intended to be used as a portable printer, the 9800DW can be moved easily without fear of breaking a plastic knob, switch or paper tray. Other than the small removable paper strip bin, nothing protrudes outside the case.
“The most important aspect of printing is the end product, said Neel. “The ease and simplicity of producing a top quality print along with this Mitsubishi’s print speed is all included in this printer. After testing files from low-resolution JPEGs to larger high-resolution TIFFs, the 9800DW delivered high-quality prints with equal print speeds every time.
“Another superior feature of the Mitsubishi CP9800DW is its ability to print from any digital format in seconds. We tested printing directly from several different cameras, such as point and shoot, to professional SLR models with no advanced adjustments and found the same great results. For those of us who want to adjust the photo quality without using complex and expensive software packages, the CP9800DW has the built-in software included and easily located within the printing preferences. This gives a user the ability to make adjustments to orientation, number of copies, scaling and reminds you of how many pages are left on the roll of paper. In addition, the sharpness, gamma, color matching and color correction can all be adjusted along with an automatic color adjustment feature. All of the above features work very well and can be loaded and saved quickly.
“We tested black and white, sepia and color prints and the quality of the prints was very impressive,” added Neel. “The 9800DW produced the true colors we expected, and the mid-tone ranges along with blacks were excellent overall. Even the highly adjusted files from an editing program printed as they appeared on a color-correct monitor. We test-printed a batch of more than 100 photos at once, non-stop. The print speed was unbelievable. From one print to 100 the CP9800DW maintained speed and quality from start to finish. This is a printer’s printer, built for big business yet compact and affordable for a small business or even a home.”
Commenting on the evaluation, Darla Achey, product marketing specialist, Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America, Imaging Products noted, “It’s always great to hear back from professionals in the field on their experiences with our products and it’s especially gratifying to hear such positive and detailed feedback on the CP-9800DW that is so new to the market.”
