October 18, 2007—Demonstrating how its DPS Kiosk
7000 turnkey photo finishing and printing kiosk can be
a profit center for businesses in a wide array of retail,
hospitality and other commercial businesses, Mitsubishi
Digital Electronics today announced that -Wall Drugs in
South Dakota had successfully deployed a DPS Kiosk 7000
at its legendary roadside mall and attractions near the
Badlands National Park and close to many other tourist
attractions in the state.
The system, with integrated credit card capabilities,
was sold and installed by Ideal Gifts Photos and provides
Wall Drugs with a worry-free revenue generator and customers
with an intuitive, useful service., Wall Drug needed to
increase the profitability of its photo department, while
at the same time providing a fast and easy service to the
large number of tourists in the area. After getting its
start in 1931 by offering free ice water to travelers passing
through South Dakota, Wall Drug has gone on to become one
of the most famous roadside attractions in America, offering
a wonderland of recreational amenities to as many as 15,000
customers a day in the summer.
With so much to see and do in the area, servicing the
imaging needs of its customers was a crucial addition to
the company’s offerings. Tyler Swift, head of
the photo department at Wall Drug, along with its owners, decided on the Mitsubishi
DPS Kiosk 7000 after examining numerous other possibilities.
“We wanted a reliable, cost effective kiosk that
our customers could use without us having to have a staff
person present all the time,” said Swift. “After
looking at a lot of options, we decided the Mitsubishi
was the best way to go because it’s so fast and easy
for the customers to use without assistance.”
The DPS Kiosk 7000 allows Wall Drug customers to simply
insert their digital camera card and, through the use of
a large, easy to use touchscreen, to quickly and easily
print out photos or empty the card onto a CD. Though Wall
Drug offers extra digital cards, Swift has found many customers
prefer to use the one they have and the DPS7000 allows
them to empty that card onto a CD and continually re-use
it. This comes in handy as they go from the Badlands to
Mount Rushmore to the many other attractions in that part
of the state.
The DPS Kiosk 7000 is a compact system that can be mounted
on a pedestal or positioned on a countertop and has a wide
range of printer hookups, offers numerous print sizes in
addition to CD burning, and features Bluetooth wireless
technology as well .
